Leadership Changes in Belleville Schools for the Upcoming Academic Year

Belleville schools are set to welcome a new wave of leadership as the academic year approaches. Marshaun Warren has been appointed as the superintendent of Belleville Township High School District 201, while Melanie Brink will lead Belle Valley School District 119. Joe Rujawitz, who previously served as associate principal at Belleville East High School, is now stepping into the role of principal.

These changes come with a focus on enhancing student opportunities and fostering strong community partnerships. To help students and families become more familiar with the new administration, several key leaders were asked to share their insights through a questionnaire. Here’s what they had to say about their backgrounds, concerns, and aspirations for the upcoming school year.

Marshaun Warren – Superintendent of Belleville Township High School District 201

Marshaun Warren brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Her career includes positions such as assistant superintendent for human resources and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), adjunct professor at Webster University and Maryville University, and various administrative roles within District 201. She holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Saint Louis University, along with advanced degrees in education and administration.

Warren emphasized the importance of preparing students for both college and careers. She highlighted the district’s commitment to providing equitable access to high-quality academic and career-focused programs. The C.A.V.E. (Center for Academic and Vocational Excellence) is one such initiative that offers hands-on learning experiences. Additionally, she expressed excitement about dual credit programs that allow students to earn college credits while still in high school, reducing future financial burdens.

Warren also encouraged students to take full advantage of the opportunities available in the district. She urged them to get involved, share their ideas, and help build inclusive and supportive school environments. For parents and guardians, she stressed the value of collaboration, stating that the district is committed to creating an environment where every student feels seen and supported.
