Overview of Recent Shootings in Chicago

Chicago has experienced a series of violent shootings over the weekend, resulting in at least four fatalities and 23 injuries. The incidents spanned from Friday evening through Monday morning, with victims ranging in age from 16 to 59 years old.

Shootings on Friday

The first shooting occurred around 7:46 p.m. when a 40-year-old man was shot in the thigh and abdomen while walking on South State Street in Washington Park. He self-transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center and was reported in good condition. No details were provided about the circumstances leading to the incident.

Later that evening, around 9:30 p.m., a mass shooting took place on South Halsted Street. Four men, aged between 35 and 49, were wounded, with gunshot wounds to their legs. One was in critical condition, while the others were in good condition.

Additional shootings occurred between 5 p.m. on Friday and 5 a.m. on Monday, but no specific details were released for all cases.

Shootings on Saturday

At 2:45 a.m., a 26-year-old woman was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head on North Kimball Avenue. She was transported to Mt Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Around 3:58 a.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in the right knee and left heel after being approached by unknown individuals on West Adams Street. He was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition. Authorities recovered weapons from the scene and are investigating four people of interest.

At 5:38 a.m., a 31-year-old man was shot multiple times while standing near South Dearborn Street. He was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital and his condition was stabilized.

A 16- and 19-year-old boy were shot in the legs on South Vernon Avenue. Both were self-transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center and were in good condition.

At 7:15 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was killed when someone fired multiple shots from a blue sedan on South Carpenter Street. The shooter’s vehicle was last seen heading north on the street.

In the evening, two men, ages 21 and 38, were shot in a confrontation involving a black SUV on West 85th Street. The younger man was in good condition, while the older man was in critical condition.

Shootings on Sunday

At 12:05 a.m., a 25-year-old man was shot in the left thigh and right arm while in a car on West Wilcox Street. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition.

Around 12:59 a.m., a 28-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to the head and a gunshot wound to the left buttock while in a home on West 87th Street. She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in fair condition.

At 3:10 a.m., a 32-year-old man was shot during a quarrel at a gathering on West Haddon Avenue. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.

Other incidents included a 39-year-old man shot in the leg on West Ohio Street, a 59-year-old man shot on South Laflin Street, and a 28-year-old man shot twice in the right leg on South Lowe Avenue.

Shootings on Monday

At 12:18 a.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot multiple times by eight unknown individuals on North Winthrop Avenue. He was pronounced dead at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

Around 2:58 a.m., a 17- or 18-year-old boy was found with a gunshot wound to the head on South Avenue M. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and later pronounced dead.
