Apple's Record-Breaking Performance at the Emmys

Apple made history at the Emmys with its most successful night ever, securing seven awards and bringing its total to 22. This achievement was fueled by standout performances from The Studio and Severance, both of which contributed significantly to the tech giant’s success. Despite this impressive showing, Apple found itself trailing behind HBO Max and Netflix, which each claimed 30 Emmy wins.

HBO Max entered the evening with 21 awards and added nine more, thanks to strong showings from The Pitt, The Penguin, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Meanwhile, Netflix started with 24 awards, including six juried animation wins, and added six more, largely due to the success of Adolescence in its categories.

The Studio made headlines by breaking the record for the most Emmy-winning comedy in a single year, earning 13 wins, including four on the night. Seth Rogen won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, and he also tied the record for the most Emmys won in one night through writing and directing accolades. This marked a significant milestone for Apple, as it continues to build a reputation for producing high-profile content with A-list talent.

Rogen was joined by Tramell Tillman, who won for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, and Britt Lower, who took home the award for Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Additionally, The Studio’s creators, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, won for directing in comedy, while the show also secured the comedy writing award.

Other notable winners included Adam Randall, who took home the directing award for Slow Horses. John Oliver continued his dominance at the Emmys, with Last Week Tonight beating Saturday Night Live once again and also winning the variety writing award. The show has become a consistent force in the comedy category, further solidifying its place in television history.

Apple entered the Primetime Emmys with 15 awards, with The Studio picking up nine and Severance adding six across categories such as guest acting, casting, cinematography, music, production design, and sound. This success came after the company received a record 81 nominations, marking its highest number of nods ever. HBO Max had its own share of victories, with Hacks’ Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder winning for Lead Actress and Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, respectively. Cristin Milioti won for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for her role in The Penguin, and Jeff Hiller took home the Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series award for Somebody Somewhere.

Katherine LaNasa surprised many by winning for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series, beating out heavyweights like Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, and Aimee Lou Wood. HBO Max also saw a record number of nominations this year, with 142 noms, surpassing Netflix’s 120.

Netflix’s performance was driven by Adolescence, a British series that swept several categories. The show won for Owen Cooper, Stephen Graham, and Erin Doherty, with director Phil Barantini taking home the streamer’s first award of the night. Graham later paid tribute to the entire team behind the show, highlighting the collaborative effort that led to its success.

In addition to Adolescence, Netflix benefited from previous successes such as The Crown and Baby Reindeer. The streaming giant also saw other notable wins, including The Late Show and Andor, which earned a Primetime Emmy for Dan Gilroy’s Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series.

Saturday Night Live continued its strong year, despite losing the Scripted Variety Series category to Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. However, the show celebrated its 50th anniversary with a win for Outstanding Variety Special (Live), beating Beyoncé. Peacock also made an impact with The Traitors, winning the top reality award, while CBS and Disney also claimed their share of honors.
