Seth Rogen's First Emmy Win for Lead Actor on "The Studio": 'I've Never Won Anything Before'

Seth Rogen Wins Major Emmy Award for First Time
Seth Rogen has made history by winning the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series at the 77th Emmy Awards. This is his first-ever Emmy win, and he was recognized for his role in The Studio, a comedy series that he created, wrote, and directed alongside longtime collaborator Evan Goldberg.
Rogen, 43, took to the stage with an emotional and heartfelt acceptance speech. He admitted he had prepared nothing because he couldn’t believe the honor would come to him. “I’ve never won anything in my life,” he said. “When I was a kid, I bought a youth bowling trophy and an estate sale, and my parents were like, ‘Yeah, that's a good idea. You should probably buy that.’”
He thanked everyone involved in the show, including his wife, his mother, his agents, managers, writers, and all the guest stars. “Thank you so much. This is really just so lovely. And I don't know, I don't know what to say. This is so nice. Thank you. I appreciate you all. Have a good one!”
Rogen’s win comes after being nominated for nine Emmys in the past. This year, he received nods for both his writing and directing, as well as for his lead actor performance. The Studio is also up for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Other Notable Nominees
Seth Rogen wasn’t the only actor honored at the ceremony. Adam Brody, Jason Segel, Jeremy Allen White, and Martin Short were also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
Adam Brody, known for his role as “the Hot Rabbi” Noah in Nobody Wants This, shared his excitement about the nomination. The Netflix series, which features Kristen Bell as an agnostic sex podcaster, was a massive hit and is set to return for its second season in October. Brody called it a “pleasant surprise” that the show resonated with so many viewers.
Jason Segel, who co-created and stars in Shrinking, discussed the responsibility of portraying mental health issues on screen. The Apple TV+ series follows a grieving therapist who begins breaking the rules with his clients. Segel emphasized the importance of handling such sensitive topics with care and responsibility. This is his third Emmy nomination, and Shrinking is also up for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Jeremy Allen White, who plays Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto in The Bear, has been nominated for three consecutive years. He won his first Emmy in 2023 and repeated his success in 2024. White described the impact the show has had on his life, saying, “This show has changed my life.”
Martin Short, who plays one of the main characters in Only Murders in the Building, became the oldest winner in the Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series category at 75. He beat out Eugene Levy, who previously held the record at 73. Short praised the fun and creative environment on set, calling it “very, very, very loose” and “fun-filled.”
