Colorado Softball State Champions: Scores and Updates Revealed

Colorado High School Softball State Championships

Colorado's top high school softball teams are competing for CHSAA state championships this weekend at Aurora Sports Park. The two-day state tournaments across three classifications run from October 24 to 25, starting with first-round and quarterfinal action on October 24. Semifinals and championship games are scheduled for October 25.

Each class has a 16-team field and follows a single-elimination format. There are four Fort Collins-area teams and 12 total Northern Colorado teams in action out of the 48 total qualifiers.

Broomfield Wins 5A Title

Broomfield claimed the 5A state title after surviving a semifinal and then rolling in the championship. They defeated Eaglecrest in extra innings, which brought relief as the Eagles went on to beat Legend 17-7 in the championship, with a 12-run fifth inning.

Holy Family Claims 4A Title

Holy Family came back to win the 4A state championship. The Wizards were up 4-0 through three innings, but Holy Family scored six runs in the fourth and added another in the fifth. Star pitcher Emmaline Humphreys led the Tigers to their fifth title and first since 2021.

University Dethrones Eaton in 3A Championship

University dethroned Eaton, the three-time reigning 3A state champion, in a thrilling final. The Bulldogs walked Eaton off for a 5-4 win in the final inning. Jasi Cole delivered the winning base knock for University's second-ever softball title and first since 2019.

Windsor Advances to 4A Final

Windsor advanced to the 4A state championship game for a second straight year. They defeated No. 4 Lutheran 6-1 in the semifinal, avenging a 4A title-game loss last season. Izzy Eisenmann drove in three runs, and Jenna McGinnis pitched a complete game, allowing just three hits and striking out nine batters.

Windsor also halted Lutheran's four-year run of state softball championships, three of them in Class 4A. The finals will feature No. 3 Holy Family, which ousted No. 2 Palmer Ridge 4-2 in a tense extra-inning semifinal.

Wellington's Run Ends in Semifinals

Wellington made it to the 3A semifinals after strong performances in the first round and quarterfinals. However, No. 1 University defeated them 6-3 in the semifinals. Taylor Morgan was dominant on the mound, striking out 24 batters in 12 innings of work.

Fossil Ridge Bounced in 5A Quarterfinals

No. 1 Broomfield defeated No. 8 Fossil Ridge 13-1 in the 5A quarterfinals. Avery Akers, who filled in admirably for Fossil Ridge, was unable to stop Broomfield's onslaught. Broomfield scored 11 runs in the third inning and had 14 total hits.

Fort Collins Falls in 5A Quarterfinals

No. 10 Fort Collins fell to No. 2 Cherokee Trail in the 5A quarterfinals, ending their return to the state tournament. Fort Collins had a program-record 19-8-1 season under coach Arica Abrames. Lily Padilla pitched 8 innings, allowing no earned runs and just 8 hits.
