Green Bay Packers Trade Deadline Live Updates
The NFL season has reached the midway point in 2025. Nine weeks down, nine to go. As teams look ahead to the second half of the season, the focus is turning to the upcoming trade deadline on November 4. This pivotal date will determine which teams are buyers and which are sellers, shaping the playoff landscape for the remainder of the year.
For the Green Bay Packers, a team currently sitting at 5-2-1 and leading their division, there are questions about whether they can live up to their potential. Despite being in first place, recent performances have raised concerns, particularly after a disappointing loss that highlighted areas needing improvement. The Packers are looking to strengthen their roster as they aim to secure a playoff spot.
Key Areas of Need
One of the most pressing needs for the Packers is on the defensive side of the ball. The cornerback position has been a concern due to injuries and inconsistent play. Similarly, the defensive line has shown signs of weakness, leaving the team vulnerable in key moments. Addressing these issues could be crucial for the Packers' success in the second half of the season.
On the offensive side, the tight end position has become a focal point. The injury to breakout star Tucker Kraft has left a significant void, and the team may struggle to find a suitable replacement. Kraft's production this season has been vital, and his absence is a challenge that the Packers must overcome. While internal solutions are being explored, it may prove difficult to replicate the impact he provided.
Kicking Department Dilemma
In addition to the offensive and defensive needs, the Packers also face a unique situation with their kicking department. The team currently has two kickers on the roster: Brandon McManus and Lucas Havrisik. This presents a decision for general manager Brian Gutekunst, who must determine the best course of action for the remainder of the season.
Another consideration for the Packers is the possibility of trading for additional draft capital. In previous years, the team has made strategic moves to bolster their future prospects. With the knowledge that they do not have first-round picks in 2026 and 2027, the Packers may look to leverage their current assets to gain more value in the long term.
Strategic Moves Ahead
As the trade deadline approaches, the Packers will need to evaluate their options carefully. Whether they choose to make additions through trades or focus on internal development, the decisions made in the coming weeks will have a significant impact on their playoff chances.
The team’s ability to address its weaknesses and capitalize on opportunities will be critical in determining their success in the second half of the 2025 season. Fans will be watching closely as the Packers navigate this important period of the year.

With the right moves, the Packers could position themselves for a strong finish and a deep playoff run. However, the path forward will require careful planning and execution from the front office and coaching staff.
Here’s what to know about the NFL trade deadline, latest rumors and other trades across the league:
When is the NFL trade deadline 2025?
The 2025 NFL trade deadline is 3 p.m. (Central time) Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Jerry Jones says Cowboys will make a trade
Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones shocked the NFL world when he sent All-Pro defensive end Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers before the start of the season.
Does Jones have another big trade in him at the deadline?
Apparentely, it's already made. But he didn't say what it is.
"Immediately it will address some things that have been our shortcomings," Jones said on Sirius XM Radio on Nov. 3.
That likely means adding to the defense.
The Cowboys (3-4-1) are one of only two teams in the NFL to allow over 30 points per game. They enter their "Monday Night Football" game on Nov. 3 against the Arizona Cardinals giving up 31.3 points. Only the Cincinnati Bengals allow more at 33.3 points.
Dallas also allows the second-most yards in front of only the Bengals with 404.6 yards and have the third-worst pass and run defense.
The Cowboys' offense, on the other hand, is one of the NFL's best. Dallas has the top-ranked passing offense, second-ranked in total yards and second-ranked in points at 30.8 points.
Eagles trade for Jaelan Phillips from Dolphins
The Philadelphia Eagles are certainly not standing pat at the trade deadline.
The reigning Super Bowl champions have now made their third trade in the last week and all have come on defense.
Philadelphia acquired edge rusher Jaelan Phillips from the Miami Dolphins on Monday, Nov. 3, for a 2026 third-round draft pick, according to the NFL Network.
Phillips, 26, is a former first-round draft pick who has been limited by injuries in recent seasons. He played in just 12 of a possible 34 games for the Dolphins in 2023 and 2024. But when healthy, he has been an impact player. Phillips played in every game his first two seasons and had a career-high 8.5 sacks and nine tackles for a loss as a rookie in 2021.
The Eagles had a need on the line with the sudden retirement of former Packers defensive end Za'Darius Smith earlier this season. They also added two cornerbacks last week: Jaire Alexander from the Baltimore Ravens and Michael Carter from the New York Jets.
It makes sense that the Eagles are looking to improve their defense for the stretch run. Despite having a 6-2 record, the Eagles have regressed on defense in 2025. After having the NFL's top-ranked defense, No. 1 passing defense and second-ranked scoring defense in 2024, the Eagles have dropped to 23rd in total defense, 17th in passing defense and 19th in scoring defense.
Jaire Alexander trade
Over the weekend, former Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander was traded from the Baltimore Ravens to the Philadelphia Eagles.
It ends a rough season for Alexander in Baltimore in which he no longer was part of the defensive rotation.
The Packers drafted Alexander in the first round of the 2018 draft, and he spent the next seven years in Green Bay, becoming a two-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro.
But injuries plagued his final seasons in Green Bay and he went on to miss 20 of 34 games. He had surgery on his right knee near the end of last season.
The Packers moved on from the 28-year-old Alexander this past offseason ahead of mandatory mini camp in June. He quickly signed a one-year deal with the Ravens where he looked to have a fresh start.
But the signing was a bust. Alexander’s knee injury resurfaced forcing him to miss a month of training camp where he had his knee drained to manage swelling. Alexander returned for Week 1 but it was a disastrous showing.
He played just one more game the rest of the season in Week 5 on Oct. 5. He was a healthy scratch in five games this season.
Alexander is the second cornerback the Eagles added via trades in the last week.
Had Alexander remained on the Ravens he would have had a homecoming in late December when the Ravens come to Lambeau Field for a game. Instead, the return is coming much sooner now that he’s a member of the Eagles. Philadelphia plays the Packers in Green Bay on “Monday Night Football” in Week 10 on Nov. 10.
