Bryce Young Trade Officially Finalized!
The major trade that sent Bryce Young to the Carolina Panthers as the top pick in the 2023 NFL Draft has been finalized. With the Chicago Bears having made their last choice, we can now compare both teams' picks in this transaction.
Original trade compensation for Bryce Young
The Carolina Panthers traded away wide receiver D.J. Moore along with the team’s ninth overall pick and the 61st overall pick from the 2023 NFL Draft for a first-round choice in the 2024 NFL Draft and a second-round selection in 2025.
Carolina got the pick that was used on Young.
Once the 2024 NFL Draft order was established, the selection that the Panthers had traded to Chicago turned out to be the first overall pick.
In 2025, the pick in the second round slots in at 39 overall.
Who have the Bears selected with the draft picks from the Bryce Young trade?
We’ll update after the 39th pick, which completes the trade for Young that began over two years ago.
In 2023, the Bears' draft choices became intricate due to extensive trading activities. They moved their initial selection from the ninth spot to the tenth position in order to acquire a fourth-rounder for 2024. Subsequently, they advanced five positions from number 61 to number 56 in 2023, giving away pick number 136 along the way. For simplicity’s sake, I will treat these fourth-round selections as canceling each other out.
The Bears have added:
- DJ Moore, Wide receiver
- 2023 Draft Pick 1 (10): Darnell Wright, Offensive Tackle, Tennessee
- 2023 Round 2 (56): Tyrique Stevenson, Cornerback from Miami
- 2024 Draft Round 1 (1): Caleb Williams, Quarterback,
- 2025 Round 2 (39): I will provide an update once the selection is made.
Since his trade from Carolina, how has DJ Moore been performing with the Bears?
In two seasons with the Bears, Moore has started all 34 games catching 194 passes for 2330 yards and 14 touchdowns. He’s got a rushing touchdown, too, on 19 carries for 96 yards. He’s been excellent despite the tumultuous QB situation in Chicago.
How has Darnell Wright played for the Bears?
Wright was selected just a few picks after Bryce Young within the first ten choices. Since then, he has begun 33 games as a right tackle for the Bears. According to Pro Football Focus, he excels notably in running plays and ranks among the best tackles across the league.
What has been Tyrique Stevenson's performance like with the Bears?
Stevenson has appeared in 32 matches for Chicago, recording six interceptions, deflecting 28 passes, and making 164 tackles. He has participated in at least 81 percent of the team's defensive plays and also contributes to their special teams unit.
What has been Caleb Williams' performance like with the Bears?
Clearly, the Carolina Panthers did not anticipate trading their first-round draft choice for the next year; however, that's precisely what ended up occurring. During Williams' initial NFL campaign, he showed promising performance even though the team finished with an underwhelming 5-12 record. That season, he completed 62.5% of his pass attempts, accumulating 3,541 passing yards along with 20 touchdown throws and six picks. Additionally, he contributed significantly as a rusher, gaining 489 rushing yards from 81 carries yet managed to lose possession via fumble ten times during games.
