China's Foreign Minister Calls U.S. Tariffs a Sign of "Extreme Egoism"
HONG KONG (The News Pulse) - In a statement from China's Foreign Ministry on Saturday, Foreign Minister Wang Yi indicated that Beijing supports global regulations regarding U.S. sanctions and is against protectionist policies.
While attending the China-Central Asia foreign ministers' meeting in Kazakhstan, Wang stated that Beijing aims to unite with other nations regarding the issue of tariffs. He also criticized what he called "extreme egoism" and the aggressive tactics employed by some countries, as mentioned in an official ministry statement.
In an interview released on Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that discussions regarding tariffs were currently happening with China. However, Beijing refuted these claims, stating no such talks had occurred—a further instance of mixed messages about efforts to reduce tensions in a trade conflict posing a threat to worldwide economic expansion.
During his meeting with Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, Wang stated that China aims to strengthen unity with other nations and will support multilateral approaches to “contribute stability to the global community.”
