Polantz went on: "The accusations were dismissed during the Biden administration against that judge from Massachusetts, however, she ultimately struck a deal. Thus, it was indeed a valid case."
Ruiz, originally from Mexico, faced charges of assault for allegedly striking another individual more than 30 times in the face following complaints about excessively loud music.
When ICE officers arrived at the courthouse to apprehend him, Dugan, according to the government, concealed him.
On Friday, she was detained at the Milwaukee County Courthouse as per the US Marshals Service.
Dugan made a brief appearance in federal court in Milwaukee later on Friday before being let out of custody.
She is charged with 'hiding someone to keep them from being found and arrested' as well as blocking or hindering a legal process.
Craig Mastantuono, her lawyer, stated: "Judge Dugan strongly regrets and objects to her arrest. It did not serve the purpose of ensuring public safety."
The document states that Dugan appeared 'clearly upset' due to the presence of ICE officers at the courthouse, and she referred to the circumstances as 'ridiculous.'
Before directing the arrest team to converse with the chief judge and leading them out of the courtroom, she withdrew to her quarters, according to the document.
Dugan went back to the courtroom and was overheard saying something along the lines of 'hold on, come with me.' He then guided Flores-Ruiz and his attorney through a jury entrance to a private section of the courthouse.
The action was uncommon according to the affidavit since typically only deputies, juries, courthouse employees, and inmates being transported by law enforcement utilized the rear jury entrance. On the contrary, defense lawyers and individuals not under arrest never made use of this particular doorway.
On Friday, when speaking on Fox News, Attorney General Pam Bondi stated that Dugan had 'endangered the safety of our law enforcement officers.'
Dugan served as the Milwaukee County Circuit Judge for nine years, having assumed office in 2016 and securing re-election in 2022.
Her detention occurred one day following this event. Former Magistrate Judge Joel Cano of Dona Ana County and his spouse, Nancy Cano, were arrested after law enforcement conducted a raid at their residence in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
The pair are being charged with evidence tampering following allegations that they sheltered an undocumented individual, identified as suspected Venezuelan gang member Cristhian Ortega-Lopez, at their residence.
According to prosecutors, the suspected Venezuelan gang member was residing with the judge and his household, and he frequently shared photos of himself with them on social media.
Previously, the Justice Department indicated that it would take action against local officials who obstruct federal immigration initiatives.
