Deadly Crash Strikes Big Ten Team's Mascot

A fatal accident occurred involving the Purdue Boilermakers’ mascot, resulting in one death and two individuals being hospitalized due to severe injuries.

According to WLFI via WKRC The Purdue University locomotive mascot known as "the Boilermaker Special" crashed into another car while traveling on the highway. This collision resulted in the death of the driver from the other vehicle, whereas two occupants of the Boilermaker Special had to be hospitalized.

"As per data gathered by a nearby media source WLFI According to the report, the Boilermaker Special was traveling along Highway US 52 on Thursday afternoon when it crashed into another car. The individual from the other vehicle allegedly passed away due to the collision, while the two occupants of the Boilermaker Special were transported to the hospital and later discharged.

WTHR has reported that law enforcement officials presently believe a "potential issue with the tire" may have caused the train to lose control.

To clarify, the Boilermaker Special isn’t really a train; instead, it’s a specially adapted truck frame designed to resemble a Victorian-era steam locomotive.

Purdue University issued a statement regarding the accident that occurred yesterday, verifying that both students involved were discharged after receiving treatment at the medical facility.

"The university confirmed today that their Boilermaker Special was part of a severe multi-vehicle crash in Tippecanoe County this afternoon. Their thoughts go out to everyone affected by the incident," they stated.

The two students who were part of the Special have received treatment and were discharged from the hospital.
