Evangel University Unveils New Residence Hall: A First in Over Four Decades
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -Evangel University students and staff gathered to break ground on a new residence hall Friday morning.
The Daryl and Lois Flood Residence Hall will accommodate up to 224 students. The 57,816-square-foot residence hall will feature amenities such as private bathrooms, separate men’s and women’s laundry rooms, and designated movie, prayer, and study rooms.
“The last new dorm built here was over 40 years ago,” said Mike Rakes, president of Evangel University. “The students are a level 10 excited and will begin enrolling and signing up for that soon.”
The $16.4 million project will also feature eight single-occupancy rooms for resident assistants and full ADA accessibility throughout.
“This one is a pretty big upgrade in housing for us,” said Rakes. “It’s the move away from the old-school dorms.”
The residence hall is set to open in fall 2026.
