EXCLUSIVE: Ex-Texas Star DB Andrew Mukuba Snagged by Philadelphia Eagles
Former Texas Longhorns defensive back Andrew Mukuba has been selected by the Philadelphia Eagles The Austin-born player was selected with the 64th overall pick in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Mukuba became the last choice of Round 2.
Mukuba began his collegiate journey at Clemson, playing there for three years. During this time, he earned recognition as a Freshman All-American and was named the ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year. Feeling that he wasn’t progressing sufficiently, Mukuba decided to transfer to the University of Texas, his hometown school, ahead of the 2024 season.
During his single season at Texas, Mukuba recorded 69 tackles, four tackles for loss, five interceptions, and 11 pass deflections. His key asset lies in his adaptability, having played as a nickelback, free safety, and corner throughout his career.
Mukuba is additionally known as a formidable tackler willing to charge downhill and occupy narrow lanes. Throughout his college years at both Clemson and Texas, he earned All-Conference honors. During his tenure with the Tigers, he recorded 149 tackles along with 20 pass deflections. In his time at Texas, he stood out by leading the SEC with five interceptions.
