SLED Charges Beaufort County Man for Alleged Sexual Assault on Minor

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) — On Sunday, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division arrested a man from Beaufort County for allegedly kissing a minor.

Edgar Kangaroo Jansons, aged 75, faces charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a minor, according to statements made by SLED spokesperson Renée Wunderlich.

The document states that the juvenile was 10 years old when he embraced her at his residence.

The inquiry conducted by SLED was initiated at the request of the Port Royal Police Department.

Jansons was taken into custody at the Beaufort County Detention Center.

The 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office will handle the prosecution of this case.
