Teacher Sues Charter School After Student's Suicide Attempt in Boynton Beach
Legal papers are uncovering fresh information regarding the educator from Boynton Beach who has been charged with engaging in sexual activities with a student.
The parents of the 16-year-old girl have initiated legal action against Damian Conti, alleging that he entered into a suicide agreement with their daughter and accompanied her to a hardware store where she selected a rope intended for hanging herself.

In February 2024, Conti faced multiple charges related to unlawful sexual activities involving a minor. Currently, he now confronts an additional charge for allegedly trying to help someone commit suicide.
The latest charge against Damian Conti stems from the alleged events of Feb. 6, 2024.
The lawsuit initiated by the parents of the 16-year-old alleged victim claims that a fellow student informed the recently ousted principal at SouthTech Academy about communications between the teenager and Conti. As a result, Conti faced suspension from his position.
Next, the principal allegedly summoned the girl to her office for a conversation with law enforcement officials.
The legal action asserts that the young lady declined to talk unless her parents and a lawyer were present, and she also contacted her stepfather shortly to inform him about what was happening.
Next, bypassing communication with her parents, an assistant principal informed the girl to check out from school and return home.
When the receptionist sought confirmation from the principal, the principal reportedly replied, "Yes, get her out of here."

That's according to the documents, which state that the girl met up with Conti at a Home Depot close to Lake Worth Beach. They allegedly made a suicide pact, purchasing a rope and chain before parting ways separately.
The police stated that Conti subsequently contacted them to inform about the girl's suicide attempt, and upon arriving at the scene, they discovered her suspended from a tree in a nearby park.
"The sole positive point for him is that he claimed he dialed 911, which led them to find her and ultimately saved her life. This might be beneficial during the trial; however, he still has to face significant consequences," stated former Palm Beach County state attorney Dave Aronberg.
Aronberg stated that if found guilty, Conti might face multiple decades in prison.
This is the sort of offense that the legal system takes extremely seriously, and quite rightly, since it involves a defenseless person, an individual below the age of consent, who shares a connection with someone in a position of power at their educational institution," Aronberg stated. "Therefore, such cases typically do not evoke considerable empathy from jurors.
The civil lawsuit additionally names SouthTech Academy as a co-defendant along with Conti.
WPBF 25 News attempted to contact them for an opinion, however, the present principal mentioned that the institution cannot address active legal matters.
