Truckee Meadows Fire Station Expansion: Enhancing Safety in High-Risk Traffic and Brushfire Zones
A location in northern Nevada known for being a frequent site of traffic accidents and brushfires will soon be receiving a new fire station.
The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District is starting construction on Station 35, located just north of Interstate 80 and Waltham Way near an Apple data center .
The ground breaking event is scheduled for Monday, April 28 at 11 AM.
Apple contributed both land and funds toward building a 13,000-square-foot fire station designed to accommodate four to eight firefighters along with essential equipment such as a Type 1 Fire Engine, a Type 3 Brush Engine, and a water tender. Additionally, the facility aims to include an area designated for a paramedic ambulance.
The tight, congested passageway linking Sparks with the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center has witnessed a 61% rise in traffic over the last ten years and often becomes the scene of car crashes and vegetation fires. According to a report by the Nevada Department of Transportation, this trend continues to be observed. an average of 155 incidents occurring each year Between Sparks' Vista Boulevard and TRI's USA Parkway.
