ZelenskyyLaughs Off Putin’s Accusations of Nazism: "It's Hilarious Coming From Him"

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the evident direction from Russia’s leadership towards setting up a Nazi regime within their nation. Meanwhile, as per the second segment of his talk with Ben Shapiro, who founded The Daily Wire, Moscow remains fixated on supposedly needing to 'denazify' Ukraine.

In reaction to an interviewer’s request to address various points made by Russian President Vladimir Putin that certain individuals in the U.S. have also taken up concerning the essence of Ukraine, President Zelenskyy responded quite strongly.

Shapiro questioned Zelenskyy regarding Putin’s conflicting claims about Ukraine, noting that Putin had labeled it as a Nazi regime advocating for nazification. At the same time, Putin portrayed Ukraine as an extreme hub of leftist ideologies with strong support for transgender rights, same-sex marriages, and abortions. Shapiro sought Zelenskyy’s reaction to these contrasting allegations against his country.

In reply, the Ukrainian president said it was amusing.

"It’s amusing to hear comments on this topic from Putin. When he addresses such remarks toward me regarding Nazism, considering his regime’s actions, they come dangerously close to resembling those seen during the height of Nazi dominance in Europe around a century ago. Particularly in the initial stages of the full-scale invasion, we saw the tactics employed by his military forces drawing disturbing parallels with historical atrocities,” stated Zelenskyy.

The president likewise acknowledged having a meeting with Rabbi Moshe Azman, who leads the All-Ukrainian Congress of Jewish Hasidic Religious Communities, as well as others.

The individual strikes me as a heroic figure. As a devoted father, he embodies heroism. His son identifies as Jewish, making theirs a Jewish household. Despite this, his son joined the military forces. Would you consider it plausible that such an individual could fight under the banner of a Nazi organization? Clearly, that proposition doesn’t hold up; Putin’s statements fall short here. Given who they are, it wouldn’t make sense for Jewish people to engage in combat for the Nazis, nor should we entertain the notion of them supporting a Nazi cause through their offspring,” commented the leader.

Zelenskyy remarked, "You know that some of my ancestors were Jewish, so when people claim that Ukrainians are Nazis, that I am a Nazi, and that I lead a Nazi regime, it’s quite simplistic."

The president stated that additional evidence or differing viewpoints ought to be presented, even if minimal, since we possess strong proof of Putin’s Nazi-like administration and the repercussions stemming from his conflict with us. It is essential for his government to face accountability at the International Criminal Court.

"There’s the forced removal of Ukrainian children, an issue acknowledged globally. Some of his closest allies support this stance. These individuals maintain strong ties economically with Russia as well as countries in the Middle East and elsewhere across the Global South. They advocate for Putin to restore these children to their families. This includes reclaiming children whose parents were killed in the conflict, leaving only grandparents behind," he stated.

As Zelenskyy stated, "I apologize that this resembles more of a contemporary version of Nazism, but it is not akin to Ukrainian Nazism."

Russian Nazi propaganda

Russia consistently employs the narrative of combating Nazism as a propaganda instrument to legitimize its hostile acts toward other nations. Regarding Ukraine, Russian officials have vigorously promoted the idea of an alleged Nazi government in Kyiv ever since early 2014.

This strategy targets both Russia’s internal audience and the global community with the intention of discrediting Ukraine in their view. Essentially, these allegations are unfounded and serve to distract from the expansionist goals of this rogue state as well as its breaches of international law.

In addition, during January, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) urged the authoritarian governments in Belarus and Russia to refrain from using the fight against Nazism as a pretext for advancing their own geopolitical goals.
