Another critical factor is the availability of emergency services. Helicopters may not be able to operate in extreme heat, and ambulances are not always reliable. For hikers lost on trails, rescue options are even more limited, especially when temperatures exceed 115°F (46.11°C). In such cases, rescuers might wait until sunset, which could be too late.
