Upcoming Features of the Pixel 10 Lineup

The new Pixel 10 line is set to make its debut on August 20 during the Made by Google event. While the exact details remain under wraps, a wealth of rumors and leaks have already provided a glimpse into what to expect from this latest iteration of Google's flagship smartphones. Although Google has shared some visual teasers of the Pixel 10, it continues to keep the specifics of the phone’s features and specifications closely guarded.

Despite this, several recent reports suggest that the Pixel 10 series will bring a significant number of enhancements, making them more feature-rich than ever before. The lineup is expected to follow the same structure as the Pixel 9, including the base Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. However, there are indications that substantial changes could be happening under the hood.

Design and Camera Upgrades

Looking at the non-folding models, the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL are expected to maintain a similar design to their predecessors. This includes the rounded camera bar on the back. The entry-level Pixel 10 is rumored to introduce a third rear camera, which would be a 10.8-megapixel telephoto lens. This addition would pair with a 48-megapixel wide-angle and a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens, aiming to match the capabilities of other high-end smartphones like the Galaxy S25.

The Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL are expected to offer even more advanced camera systems, featuring a 50-megapixel wide-angle, a 48-megapixel ultrawide, and a 48-megapixel telephoto lens. These upgrades are likely to provide users with enhanced photography options and better low-light performance.

In terms of color options, the Pixel 10 is expected to come in Obsidian, Indigo, Frost, and Lemonade, while the Pro models will include Obsidian, Porcelain, Moonstone, and Jade. These names correspond to various shades of black, blue, white, gray, and green, offering a range of choices for consumers.

Pricing and Charging Innovations

Despite concerns over potential tariffs, the Pixel 10 line is rumored to maintain the same starting prices as the Pixel 9 series. This could be a strategic move to keep the phones competitive in the market.

One of the most intriguing features of the Pixel 10 is the potential support for Qi2 magnetic charging. This would allow the phone to work with MagSafe accessories, making it one of the few Android devices to do so. An image posted by known leaker Evan Blass appears to show a Pixel 10 with a circular wireless charger attached to the back, suggesting the use of magnets similar to those found in Apple’s MagSafe system.

If confirmed, this feature would enable users to easily attach magnetic phone chargers, wallets, mounts, and other accessories. Google might also introduce its own branding for this feature, possibly called PixelSnap.

New Tensor G5 Chip

Following the Tensor G4 chip used in the Pixel 9 lineup, the Pixel 10 series is expected to be powered by a new Tensor G5 chip. According to reports, the Tensor G5 is rumored to be built on a 3nm process by TSMC. However, some rumors suggest that it may not outperform the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor found in Samsung’s Galaxy S25 line and the OnePlus 13.

Despite these concerns, the Tensor chips are designed specifically for Google’s Pixel devices, and they have shown strong performance in daily use. As noted by The News Pulse Editor-at-Large Andy Lanxon, the Tensor G4 in the Pixel 9 Pro XL did not lack power in any major way, despite not showing a significant improvement over its predecessor.

Foldable Option: Pixel 10 Pro Fold

While there are fewer rumors about a new Pixel Fold, it is possible that Google could surprise users with another version of its foldable phone line. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold introduced a taller, narrower format similar to other foldables like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Rumors suggest that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold may include a new Tensor G5 chip, along with slight upgrades in specs, cameras, or battery life. It is also expected to come with Android 16 out of the box, though this software update was released early after Google I/O 2025, meaning last year’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold already has the update.

As the August 20 event approaches, more details about the Pixel 10 series are expected to emerge, keeping tech enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the official announcement.
