We are now a year and a half into the careers of the quarterbacks selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, and it's time to take a closer look at how they've performed. This class was one of the most anticipated in recent memory, with six quarterbacks chosen within the first 12 picks. Since their debut, there has been an ongoing debate about who will emerge as the best of the group. While we may not have the final answer yet, we do have a season-and-a-half of data to evaluate their progress.

This assessment considers not only their current performance but also factors such as their environment, mentors, and overall trajectory as NFL players. Here's my re-ranking of the quarterbacks from the 2024 draft who have started meaningful games for their teams.

1. Drake Maye, New England Patriots (Previously QB3)

Drake Maye is currently leading the New England Patriots like a seasoned veteran. His accuracy, ability to make plays with his legs, and development of a deep ball have impressed fans and analysts alike. Maye has 17 touchdowns and just three interceptions this season, and he's already receiving "MVP" chants from the New England faithful. While he may not have the highest ceiling of the 2024 class, he possesses the intangibles to be a consistent and prolific passer for years to come.

2. Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders (Previously QB2)

Jayden Daniels is a special talent who led the Washington Commanders to an unexpected run to the NFC Championship. His college style has translated well to the pros, and he's a player that commands attention on the field. However, concerns about his injuries, athleticism, and the future of the Commanders organization slightly lower his ranking. Still, Daniels has the potential to be a standout quarterback if the team continues to improve.

3. Bo Nix, Denver Broncos (Previously QB6)

Bo Nix has been the biggest riser among the 2024 quarterbacks. Initially seen as a possible bust, he has exceeded expectations in his first two seasons with the Broncos. His arm strength and willingness to take risks have shown promise, and the Broncos have built a strong supporting cast around him. While he still has room for growth, Nix could be a key player for the Broncos in the next few years.

4. Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears (Previously QB1)

Caleb Williams has raw talent, arm strength, and mobility, but his inconsistency and tendency to make unforced errors have kept him from reaching the top of the rankings. While he shows flashes of brilliance, he still needs to develop more consistency and decision-making skills to be considered a franchise quarterback.

5. Michael Penix Jr., Atlanta Falcons (Previously QB4)

Michael Penix Jr. has a high ceiling and can pull off unique plays, but his injury history and inconsistent performances have held him back. The coaching staff and offensive coordinator may not be the best fit for his development, and he may need a change in environment to reach his full potential.

6. J. J. McCarthy, Minnesota Vikings (Previously QB5)

J. J. McCarthy is still early in his career and has a lot of potential. The Vikings are committed to developing him into a franchise quarterback, and Kevin O'Connell has shown he can get the best out of his quarterbacks. However, McCarthy is still a question mark, and his future depends on how well he develops under the right guidance.

7. Spencer Rattler, New Orleans Saints (QB7)

Spencer Rattler has struggled with consistency and has been replaced by Tyler Shough. If he wants to become a franchise quarterback, he may need to start from a second or third-string position elsewhere. The Saints may use their first-round pick this year on a new quarterback, which could impact Rattler's future with the team.

As the 2024 NFL Draft class continues to develop, it will be interesting to see how these quarterbacks evolve and whether they can live up to their potential.
