The Blue Jays, on the other hand, advanced to the American League Championship Series for the first time since 2016. They will host either the Detroit Tigers or the Seattle Mariners in Game 1 of the best-of-seven series on Sunday. This marks a significant milestone for the Blue Jays, who have shown incredible resilience and offensive firepower throughout the postseason.

Throughout the ALDS, the Blue Jays outscored the Yankees 23-8 in the first two games. Despite leading 6-1 early in Game 3, the Yankees staged a remarkable comeback, scoring the final eight runs to force a Game 4. However, in Game 4, the Blue Jays took control early, with runs in the first inning and additional tallies in the fifth, seventh, and eighth innings. This proved to be too much for the Yankees to overcome.

Toronto, as the top seed in the American League, earned a first-round bye, while the Yankees advanced to the ALDS by defeating Boston 4-0 in the decisive Game 3 of their Wild Card series. Both teams finished the regular season with identical records of 94-68 in the AL East. However, the Blue Jays secured the No. 1 seed due to their superior head-to-head record, holding an 8-5 advantage over the Yankees in the season series.

At 10:30 p.m., the Yankees appeared poised to rally in the top of the ninth when Jasson Dominguez hit a pinch-hit double to lead off the inning. However, Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman, a Shaker High School graduate, retired the next two batters before Aaron Judge hit an RBI single to score Dominguez. Hoffman struck out Clay Bellinger for the final out of the game to earn the save.

We move to the top of the ninth inning with the Blue Jays leading the Yankees 5-1 in Game 4 of the ALDS.

The Blue Jays added another run and now lead the Yankees 5-1 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning. Alejandro Kirk led off the inning with a double and scored on an RBI-single from Myles Straw. Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, and Giancarlo Stanton are coming up to bat for the Yankees.

Blue Jays Add On

At 9:25 p.m., the Blue Jays rallied for two more runs on a two-out RBI single from Nathan Lukes to take a 4-1 lead in the top of the seventh.

Yankees Threaten

At 9:05 p.m., the Yankees threatened to score in the bottom of the sixth inning after Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton drew walks to put runners on first and second with two outs. However, Blue Jays pitcher Yariel Rodriguez induced a groundout from Jazz Chisholm Jr. to end the threat. Toronto leads 2-1 heading into the top of the seventh.

Blue Jays Retake Lead

At 8:43 p.m., the Blue Jays took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by George Springer.

Schlittler Escapes

At 8:17 p.m., after the Blue Jays started the top of the fourth with a leadoff double from Addison Barger, Yankees starting pitcher Cam Schlittler retired three straight batters to end the inning still tied at 1-1.

Yankees Tie It Up

At 8:05 p.m., the Yankees tied it up in the bottom of the third inning after third baseman Ryan McMahon led off with a solo home run to right field.

At 7:22 p.m., Toronto took a 1-0 lead after one inning when George Springer scored on an RBI single from Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

How it happened: Vladimir Guerrero went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, and Alejandro Kirk added two solo home runs as the Blue Jays cruised to a 10-1 victory over the Yankees, marking Toronto's first postseason win since 2016. Toronto starter Kevin Gausman allowed one run and four hits over 5 2/3 innings to earn the win, effectively containing the Yankees' potent lineup.
