2025 World Wide Technology Championship: Tee Times, TV Schedule, and Viewer Guide

Key Players and Their Motivations

This week’s tournament features a mix of seasoned professionals and rising stars, with several notable names making their way to the course. J.J. Spaun and Ben Griffin, both members of the U.S. Ryder Cup team, have previous experience at this event. Spaun finished T-30 last year, while Griffin has recorded back-to-back top-25 finishes in his two starts. Joining them is Michael Brennan, the newest PGA Tour winner after his victory at the Bank of Utah Championship. Additionally, three players ranked in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking—Nick Taylor, Wyndham Clark, and Max Greyserman—are also competing.

Brennan earned his spot through a sponsor’s exemption in Utah, and Johnny Keefer hopes to follow a similar path this week in Mexico. As the Korn Ferry Tour player of the year, Keefer is aiming for a strong finish that could push him into the top 50 of the OWGR and secure spots in next year’s Masters, U.S. Open, and Open Championship.

The Battle for Top-100 Status

Beyond the high-profile players, this tournament serves as a crucial opportunity for those just below the top 100. Beau Hossler, currently ranked No. 99, and David Lipsky, ranked No. 101, are among those vying for a better position. For players ranked Nos. 51-60 through the FedEx Cup Fall, this event offers a chance to qualify for two early-season 2026 Signature Events: the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and The Genesis Invitational.

Rico Hoey moved from No. 91 to No. 61 in the standings after the Bank of Utah Championship and is in the field this week. Kevin Yu was the only player to move inside the No. 51-60 range with a T-15 finish, jumping from No. 61 to No. 59. Meanwhile, Max Greyserman remains at No. 51 and is playing this week to maintain his position.

Defending Champion and Prize Details

Austin Eckroat returns as the defending champion, having won the title a year ago with a final-round 63 that included 11 birdies. He edged out Justin Lower and Carson Young by one shot. This week’s winner will receive 500 FedEx Cup points and a $1.08 million share of the $6 million purse.

For those interested in additional coverage, ESPN+ offers access to PGA Tour Live, featuring 4,300+ hours of tournament coverage.

Course Insights and Design

The tournament is hosted at El Cardonal, a course designed by Tiger Woods and his TGR Design studio. Opened in 2014, it sits in the desert uplands above the sister course, the Dunes, which is ranked 47th in the Golf Digest World’s 100 Greatest Courses. While El Cardonal lacks the seaside setting of the Dunes, it has its own unique charm, featuring playability and strategic design elements.

The course's layout includes seven holes that run downhill, with longer yardages, and shorter par 4s that play uphill. The par 5s are generally reachable for the pros, and the final five holes offer exciting challenges, including a short par 5 going over an arroyo and a steeply downhill finishing hole.

Radio Coverage and Leaderboard Updates

PGA Tour Radio will broadcast live coverage of the tournament on SiriusXM from Thursday to Friday, starting at noon and running until 6 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, the coverage will begin at 1 p.m. and continue until 6 p.m.

Live scoring data can be found on the official PGA Tour leaderboard page.
