The controversy came to light just days after Pets Corner, the company Richmond co-founded, posted online guidance advising pet owners to keep their animals calm during firework season. This advice was quickly removed from the company's page following the Bonfire Night party held at Richmond’s Grade II-listed seven-bedroom home.

Richmond moved into the property after separating from his wife, Karen, last October. The couple is currently embroiled in a bitter £100 million divorce battle, with court hearings already taking place and another scheduled for later in the year. Meanwhile, Richmond has been seen dating model Sarah Louise Wiffen, 38, who attended the fireworks display.

The trouble began when Richmond organized what he described as a "short, family-friendly" celebration. However, locals reported that the fireworks display, which lasted for 15 minutes, caused panic among nearby animals. One horse from a neighboring paddock reportedly bolted in terror, sustaining catastrophic injuries after crashing into a fence. The animal was later put down by a vet.

Footage shared on Instagram by Wiffen showed the sky above the estate lit up with colorful explosions. Locals described the noise as so intense it sounded like a bomb going off, leaving their pets in fear and distress. Many residents claimed they were not given any prior warning about the event, which started at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

One resident described how her rescue dog was left terrified by the explosions, which she said were powerful enough to shake windows and doors in her home. She criticized Richmond for his actions, stating that as a leader of a business that claims to care about pets, he should review his personal ethics.

Another local shared a message stating that the firework display caused great distress to the horses and animals in the area. She added that the event lacked courtesy, with one horse dying as a result.

As anger grew, a neighbor posted an apology letter from Richmond in the village Facebook group. In the letter, he expressed regret for any inconvenience or distress caused and claimed he had informed several neighbors in advance. However, he acknowledged that he should have shared the information more widely.

Richmond denied laughing at a resident who confronted him about the chaos, insisting that he took her concerns seriously and was sorry for any upset. He also stated that he was in contact with the horse's owners and that the field where the horses were kept was over 800 meters away from the display site.

It also reiterated that the event was intended as an enjoyable gathering for friends, family, and neighbors.
